Na parę dni przed uroczystością Komunii Świętej – małżeństwo Mulę i Michała z kilkuletnim dzieckiem Niną odwiedza niecodzienny gość: niewidziana przez rodzinę od lat młodsza siostra Muli - Kaja, która jest biologiczną matką dziewczynki. Czy Kaja będzie starała się odzyskać dziecko? Rodzinie jej zachowanie wydaje się co raz bardziej dziwne. Wokół także dochodzi do wydarzeń, które trudno wyjaśnić. Kościelna uroczystość się zbliża, a atmosfera między siostrami gęstnieje. Wkrótce ma się okazać, że powód powrotu Kai jest zupełnie inny.

Prelekcja: dr Joanna Sarbiewska – doktor nauk humanistycznych, filozof filmu, audiowizualności i mistyki. Prowadzi badania interdyscyplinarne, głównie nad sztuką i kulturą audiowizualną w świetle dekonstrukcji, (post)fenomenologii i mistyki negatywnej, a także psychoanalizy ujętej postsekularnie. Publikowała w Kwartalniku Filmowym, Tekstach Drugich, piśmie Ha!art, Kulturze - Historii - Globalizacji i tomach zbiorowych. Wykłada na Uniwersytecie Gdańskim i w Pomorskiej Wyższej Szkole Nauk Stosowanych w Gdyni. W latach 2012-2014 wiceprezes Pomorskiego Towarzystwa Filozoficzno-Teologicznego. Cinematic Poland to inicjatywa Centrum Filmowego UG, Gdańskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego oraz Biura Współpracy Międzynarodowej Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego – jednostki. Powołanej do współpracy z zagraniczną częścią społeczności akademickiej. Jednym z jej zadań jest przybliżanie cudzoziemcom polskiej kultury, w tym historii polskiej kinematografii.
Dzięki Cinematic Poland zagraniczni studenci i pracownicy będą mieli okazję obejrzeć zarówno filmy należące do klasyki kina, jak i współczesne produkcje.

Mula lives with her family in the country. Just before her daughter’s First Holy Communion, Mula’s long lost sister pays them a visit. The family believes in reconciliation, but Mula has her reasons to feel afraid of Kaja.

Lecture: PhD Joanna Sarbiewska. Works at the Institute of Cultural Research at the University of Gdańsk. Her academic interests include philosophy of mysticism, culture, film and media in a phenomenological and postsecular perspective. Recent research deals with the deconstruction as a new phenomenology, taken in the context of re-reading of the kenosis event in a mystical, apophatic approach, and its application in a transrational ontology and technological culture. She has authored the book Ontologia i estetyka filmowych obrazów Wernera Herzoga (Ontology and aesthetics of Werner Herzog’s film images) and has published many academic articles. An author of the film Oglądy (Views), based on the novel Pokój (The Room) by Jean-Paul Sartre. She used to be a president of Gdańsk department of Polish Society of Film and Media Studies and a vice-president of Pomeranian Philosophical and Theological Society. A speaker at international conferences (organized, among others, by European Academy of Religion, Society for the Phenomenology of Religious Experience, International Federation of Philosophical Societies, European Network for Cinema and Media Studies). Cinematic Poland is an initiative of the Andrzej Wajda Film Center of the University of Gdansk, Medical University of Gdansk and the International Office of the University of Gdańsk, an unit established to cooperate with the foreign part of the academic community. One of its tasks is to familiarize foreigners with Polish culture, including the history of Polish cinematography. Thanks to Cinematic Poland, foreign students and employees will have the opportunity to watch both classic films and contemporary productions.
